The Fastest Airplane

The Concorde was the fastest airplane in the world for nearly 35 years. It could fly at speeds of up to 1,350 mph (2,170 km/h), and it could fly from New York to London in just over three hours. The Concorde was retired in 2003, and there is no longer an airplane that can fly as fast as the Concorde.

The Concorde was developed jointly by the British and French governments in the 1960s. The airplane was designed to fly at supersonic speeds, which is faster than the speed of sound. The Concorde made its maiden flight in 1969, and it began flying passengers in 1976.

The Concorde was the only supersonic passenger airplane in commercial service. The airplane had a maximum capacity of 100 passengers, and it flew at twice the speed of sound. The Concorde was retired in 2003, due to high operating costs and a decline in passenger traffic after the September 11th attacks.

The retired Concorde airplanes are now on display at museums around the world.
